Way of the Roses - Morecambe or bust

So we arrive in Morecambe at 17.05 on a Sunday evening. I hear Morecambe isn't exactly a gem of an English seaside town (apologies to anyone the lives there!). So do we brave it or hit the road immediately to get a couple of hours under our belt? Nice light evenings in June. Opinions welcome.

I stayed in a relatively nice B&B in Morecambe which I'm happy to recommend but rumour has it that Lancaster is a nicer place and only a few miles down a good cycle path away. Let me know if you want to know the details.
I'm happy to recommend (or otherwise!!!) any other of your choices en route if they're the ones I stayed in recently.
We stayed in Settle, Pateley Bridge and York.

Morecambe is very nice as long as you dont stray too far from the front. It has a skyline and sunset to die for.. it also has scallys !!

Apparently, we used to go for family holidays to Morecambe . It was in my pre-memory days, so before I was 5, or 1962-67. Or maybe it was last week, I can't remember that far back these days!

I did WOTR last year but due to the east wind I did Bridlington to Morecambe. Stayed in a very nice, reasonably priced B&B along the front at Morecambe, which had a locked alleyway at the side of the house where bikes could be kept. If you want to know the name of it, I can find out. My overnights en route were in York and Grassington.

Hi I grew up in Morecambe well til 11, Morecambe bay is lovely, better still head to the picturesque Heysham fishing village just down the road. Nearby Lancaster has compact & historical little city centre with everything you need, loadsa pubs!
