To save my fellow CCers from polluting their souls, this is a paper in the Lancet classifying the "final straw"

Or should that be the "final strawman".

I've redacted the article for those that are interested:

If someone wants to avoid a heart attack they should focus on not smoking, exercising, eating a healthy diet and maintaining their ideal weight.’

‘A lot of other factors are contributing to the overall risk; air pollution, stress, physical exertion, even anger which is another well-known trigger for a heart attack. It’s a complex mix,’ he added

Professor David Spiegelhalter, a risk expert from Cambridge University, said it was difficult to ‘disentangle’ the risk factors in the study for certain situations, such as driving or cycling to work in heavy traffic.

Not to worry. Tomorrow's Daily Mail will have conclusive proof that a diet of red wine, chocolate and cranberry juice prevents all heart attacks. Or causes them. One or the other, they haven't quite decided yet...

From the same 'journalist', who appears to be their health correspondent:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/a...ass-red-wine-help-cancer-drugs-effective.html

I wonder what it must be like working for the Daily Mail? Here! There's a new medical report out - right - Hope! Pour through this medial report and see what is the most sensationalist bullshit you can spin out of it.

I remember a comedian (might have been Marcus Brigstocke) saying that they'd once trawled through the Mail for a month, compiling a list of things that definitely caused cancer, and things that definitely cured cancer, according to their reports.

Coffee was on both lists.

Possibly more recently, there's a much more extensive list on the net: http://kill-or-cure.heroku.com/

Reading the daily mail, and references to it, reminds me of the scene in the film "1984" when people pour out their hate for 5 minutes to a screen showing big brother.

It's a paper for hate mongers, looking for someone to blame for their own life issues.
The Mail's favourite target is the immigrant.
Ignoring the real issues and the sources of problems.

For example we have a real shortage of trained apprentices in the uk, where did that problem come from i wonder?
It wouldn't have anything to with what happened here in the early 1980s would it?

No, it is probably the immigrants at fault for that too.

I have it on good authority that they are looking to buy out Channel 5 so that we can look forward to groundbreaking documentaries such as

"When Immigrants on Bicycles Go Bad!"
and
"When Single Mothers Attack!"

Surely the next headline of "Cycling eastern european runs over swan and cooks it" can't be far off? I live in a Daily Mail reader's area, and the local mag often contains lines such as these:
"Then sadly the poor old Cob swan was shot dead a few weeks ago. The police got the gun with finger prints etc:, and a dark bloke was seen running away, but they ein’t caught no one yet. I suppose it was some sort of ---uanian who eat swans in their country, so if they catch him the police won’t do nothing."
