Normally go off in the mountains of the lake district most weekends, between 5 and 8 of us.

For reasons unbeknown to me we decided to do an easy flat run on the road, from Wigton, to Bowness on Solway, Port Carlisle and all the country roads round there - not really familar to most of us, but we were doing ok.
Well it had been raining all week, nice on Saturday though.

We hit a flooded road
So it was getting on a bit, a long run backwards, or forward through a bit of a flood, or so it seemed at the time.
40 mins of peddaling in the water, up to the wifes belly button - she's short though ;-)
5 seperate flooded bits, with a few 50m bit's of road to dry out etc.

Well we all kinda laughed, but it got worse and worse, this is on roads!
Flood danger it said! I lauged so much I hurt.

Worst thing was none of us though about water bottles, all got flooded, and manky! My wife was the only one with a bladder in a rucksack. an hour back for 5 of us, on 1L of water that my wife was charging £5 a sip for!

I'm going back to mountains, far less dangerous!

worst bit was spending all Sunday stripping 2 bikes down and de-flooding them! what a state, fine silt every where, inside the twin walled wheels under rim tape, inside bottom brackets. seemed fun at the time though ;-)

Don't forget the hubs and freewheel.

both bikes are still in bits after cleaning, drying out.
been sunny so had them in the greenhouse.

re-assembly is tonight.
took bloody ages.
