Those of us at the back bench were not to be trusted and we regularly laid solvent trails across our hands and bench tops before igniting them. There was the odd blister but nothing as bad as those on the digits of the hapless pupils who forgot to let their tripods cool down before picking them up to put them away at the end of an experiment.

Confession time. I did that, except I went to grasp the top of the tripod, so got a V shaped burn across the palm of my hand. It faded after a few weeks. Also, did you know if you put a red hot tripod into a sink of cold water, it cracks the tripod.

A four minute thirty eight second run this evening. My sceptical pal who was paying me a visit was most impressed. The CO alarm went mental during the run even though I had the kitchen window and the alarm was in the adjacent room. I'm not going to try to better that. I'm now eagerly awaiting the arrival of a proper pulse jet.
