Every now and then, someone will whip up enough support to make it worth getting a batch made up. After a debate on design, sizes and supplier has been completed the order is placed. When everyone has forgotten about it, the order will arrive and it will then be a first come, first served scramble to get one until they are all gone. If you are very lucky and have an unusual body size, there may be one left over from last time.

Of course, the threads discussing all this will not be in any forums you frequent. The whole process is just starting for CC buffs, although I can't at the moment remember which forum it is in.

That's not quite accurate.

Everyso often, one dedicated forummer, for no gain or reward, takes on the process. (he's done it twice, I think, maybe three times). There will be a poll usually, to decide on a favoured design (or that might have just been the first time). I think it's usually in Cafe, but there may be a forum wide announcement on this new software.

People place orders, which are collated and paid for. There are usually a few extras I think, to make up numbers, but there isn't a 'stock' so to speak. The forummer doing it is doing it at their own risk if people don't pay up, so it's hardly fair to expect a vast stock of spares. It's never been first come first served - if you fail to see the announcement and place an order, tough. It's rather unfair to suggest it, considering the work involved, for no gain, in ordering and dispatching and dealing with people who fail to read the sizing instructions and then want a swap.
