Can someone here try www.getdeb.net
for me, its a ubuntu software site, I have been trying to get on it for several days and just get the message

Network Timeout
The server at www.getdeb.net is taking too long to respond.
The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply.

this site here,
http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/
tells me the website is OK and the problem is at my end, which is strange as my internet is working perfectly and I have no problems with any other website.

Works for me too. If you're up to using ubuntu then this is probably way too basic to be helpful but just in case... I sometimes stumble across sites that work with one browser but not another. I keep a copy of IE for just this reason.

works for me too - as above I don't want to teach you to suck eggs, but maybe this will help: if you are on a windows pc, try a reboot, clear your IE cache and cookies, close and reopen the browser and try again. Next, try from a command prompt the command ipconfig /flushdns, and finally but be carefull with it, try disabling your software antivirus/firewall in case this is causing the block. Also try to ping the site - ie - ping www.getdeb.net

...and then try a different browser, then take a look at your HOSTS file...and the list of possible reasons goes on and on. If you are using IE, then my money is on clearing the cache solving this one.

Definitely working though.

Dave try 'Tools'....' Options' to the right of 'Accept Cookies from sites' click on 'Exceptions' and see if the site you want is in there. If it is remove it and any others you want to visit

One other possibility is a virus of some sort, I had a problem a couple of years ago. Could get online, surf, got lots of pop ups and redirects. But system only crashed if I tried to visit computer help sites. Ended up downloading to USB, from another machine, some fix software and then loading it up in safe mode, that sorted it. Maybe you've got something along those lines.

Tis strange it looks like it isn't a firefox problem, I have tried with the Epiphithany web browser and can't access through that either. I had no problems before the weekend, it was working fine, Saturday I tried to access it and couldent and still can't now. I am now trying to think if I made any changes to Ubuntu at the weekend and I don't think I have. I am now wondering if one of the recent updates has changed something or if my internet provider, o2, has changed something, perhaps security software, at their end and they are now blocking it, I will drop them an E-mail and see what they say.

Do you use a broadband router?

If you do, switch it off - leave it a moment - then back on again.

Any good?

Cheers,
Shaun ;)

Tried that without success, I also disabled the firewall that comes with it without success.

did you check your cookie settings in your browser ? if they are set to exclude the site you will get access to eveything else except that one site.

The fact that it is only one site suggests it is a security /cookie setting issue
