Hi all
Just something as a note about smart meters
I have had a Smart meter for many years and - despite the things other say - i like it
anyway - a fe wyear ago it stopped working and I started having to submit manual reading again
this carried on for a while - despite sending different companies messages about it several time
and then I changed to EDF and some time after the fixed it
apparently it had been a SMETS1 meter and when I changed supplier they lost contact - although it had kept working for several years after
but anyway
then I got a message saying that it had been upgraded to SMETS2 by a network upgrade - apparently the meter could function eitehr way
anyway - a few months ago it stopped working again
I send several message and was told that somthing would be done - but nothing specific
now - my old energy deal was basically brilliant - it was a hang over from many years ago with one of those companies that went bust
but my current deal is nowhere near as good but better than any otehr when I took it out
and we have solar panels and batteries - so I could do with a deal that allows me to charge the batteries overnight at a cheap rate in winter
which EDF don;t do
so this time I went through the process of raising a proper Formal Complaint
which has made a huge difference
I initiall got an apology plus anotehr apology that they would not be able to replace the meter - which was needed- for a few months as they were pushed to max due to the oldEconomy 7 type meters needing to be done before the end of July
and basically it got done yesterday
and today I have got a call asking to come and check the work is up to scratch
AND a call checking that the visit was OK and all the problems are sorted out
and can they please close the complaint
massive difference to just logging a problem
maybe just EDF - but it certainly did seem to work in this case!!!
