I'm wife no. 2 for my husband. After a few years (and waaaay before I came along) , his first wife had tired of him and walked out - entirely her prerogative, and, as he and I have just celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary I have to say that one woman's junk is another woman's treasure, and I'm generally more pleased than not that he was available and on the market at about the time I happened to be looking.
Anyhoo, once she'd cleared out and left, he'd been in a bit of a state for a year or two, then he picked himself up and started to get his life back together, and he and I met up.Shortly after this, she took to ringing him up now and again, just for a 'little catch up chat'. I was younger then, and a lot more tolerant (or naive?!) than I am nowadays, so to begin with, I put up with it. Then, the day came when I happened to be in when she rang for the second time in a couple of months. Funnily enough, she wasn't keen to speak to me. But it was ok. I had a spare copy of one of the wedding photos. One of just me on my own. I put it in an envelope and sent it to her, with a little note explaining that:
a) I was real
b) we were married
c) she'd had her chance and hadn't wanted him
d) it would be a fair thing to say he deserved the chance to make a better go of marriage no.2 than he had managed with marriage no.1.
Funnily enough, we never heard from her again.
That was the best use I've ever put one of my wedding photos to.
