I'm a sucker for these programmes on higher maths and astrophyisics, if they are well presented. I'm not sure why, because I can only just keep all the balls in the air for the duration of the programme. I like being left with the residual wonder.

Fair enough, that's what Marcus got Dawkins's old seat for. It's mean a lot more programmes not just by him but I think we've had 2 horizons on Maths, a series, and a couple of quite well made docs on chaos and so on all in the last year. I've no idea if many of them have been watched though.

I was quite impressed the people they lined up for the programme, Max Tegmark seems to like appearing on BBC documentaries for some reason so I don't have a particular objection to that but how on earth they managed to persuade Chaitin or Cameron to appear I really don't know.
