I have a monthly routine, whereby the last Sunday of each month I'll wash the bike from front to back, give the chain a proper scrubbing and relube, and make sure everything is still tight. Life's too short to do that every weekend. Usually I just relube the chain and make sure the tyres are inflated to pressure.

I do keep on top of things during the week though, so it's not like the bike's neglected. A few babywipes and a couple of minutes after a ride mean that the bike is never too mucky, and I have a bottle of chain lube at work so I can stop any squeaking on my lunch break. I imagine I spend just as long doing things this way as I would if I did it all in a huge block at the weekend, but I found if I planned to do it all on Saturday, I'd put it off until Sunday, then something would come up so I'd push it back until Monday night, and then I couldn't be bothered after a day at work so I'd decide to do it all the following Saturday...

If its been wet i'll give the brake pads a quick going over with a toothbrush to get the build up out. Other than that nothing M-F (unless its been horrendous and the beast is looking sorry for himself) Saturday is my usual day of cleaning & maintenance where everything will get a going over. Sunday is the time for a century. Monday morning again, repeat the previous 7 days.....

Not really. Baby wipes or soapy water if needed.

Anyway, thinking more about the daily/weekly maintenance.

Let's say lube on chain once a week, mickle method. Wet or dry?

Then where do I put the GT85 daily, if anywhere? Seems it's recommended as a water repellant, so where should it go?
In the bin. I do have a can of GT85 but it so rarely gets used. I think the last time I used it was to oil the hinges on a door.
