Weird clicking noise at 12 o'clock position

I had an irritating one that I eventually found to be the cable outer end in the cable stop on the downtube. I only noticed it when on the left side down stroke, but eventually lifting the bike bike and swinging the bars leftwards told me that t definitely was not the BB.

I think the BB has to be the suspicious part of any bike! Any noise is blamed on it, yet it is rarely to blame!
