I think I must have missed something. I clicked on the link, then waded through three pages of thumbnails looking for this flower picture. The only one I found was a chicory flower (like a small blue dandelion flower, nothing like an orchid). Could someone point me in the right direction?

I received a second missive from my botanical correspondent in South Africa but during the Great CycleChat Outage that was yesterday afternoon I deleted it.

Anyway, he thanked me for my assurances that his copyright would be respected (Baggy!) and informed me that the mask flower had previously been classified as a Drachsia (or something like that beginning with a 'd').

Mr Scott's new book will be out just before Christmas this year and it will be a coffee table book like his previous one, Wonders of Nature.

My botanist girlfriend says it's an ornamental poppy, and the "eyes" are its anthers and filaments. So there.

No it is in the Scrophulariaceae, the figwort family, not the Papaveraceae...
