I can't help sniffing milk before I use it, even in someone else's house! But I roll crisp packets up and tie a knot in them.
I can't believe I just posted that - obviously haven't got enough to do today.

I smell the milk, and sometimes tie a crisp packet in a knot, but not every time.

In my early thirties and I'm still picking my nose and eating it.....

For some that would probably be considered one of their 5 a day.

Mine is number related, I have to stop the oven/microwave counter on an even number never an odd, unless it's a 5
Same in the car, radio volume can't be on an odd number.

Ah yes, I hate odd numbers as settings/times on machines as well, and I don't know why.

When I have finished my meal I often (not always) fold the edge of the table cloth back over the table top. I'm told my grandmother used to do the same thing. Maybe it's genetic.

Well, just as long as you don't wipe your mouth on it too!

Only three i can think of off hand...
I 'yelp'...it's a sharp intake of breath, like a hiccup, especially after ive eaten something. It annoys the hell out of the wife. No idea how or why it started, not sure if i'm satisfying a bodily need...or it's just a bad habit.

When i sit down, i curl my toes under my feet. I can sit for hours like that. Done it for what seems like forever.
My wife tells me off for it (light heartedly)...and my mum used to do the same.

If i'm walking along at work, i'll toss a spanner in the air, let it spin maybe 4 times, and catch it as it falls...over and over.

Same here, apart from the early thirties bit, but sometimes you get a stubborn squatter or two that needs to be served an eviction notice.

Another wierd habit I had was walking on those paving slabs, that were/are diagonally placed and counting them in blocks of ten. And I still guess how many footsteps it will take me to get to the car, the door, the shop etc.

What a wierdo...

And when I cook pasta and sauce for dinner (and I often do), I serve the sauce on top of the pasta, but then eat it off the top first, and save most of the pasta for last.

When we have spag bol at home we have it with the bol on top of the spag but I eat all the spag first and the bol last.

I do the leaf thing too.

When I'm reading, I have to stop and sniff the pages. No idea why although it amuses the rest of the family

. Also have to eat things in a certain order so I save the best part of the meal to last.

Yeah, it's OCD isn't it?

Nope...its the first signs of autism...

I was told that school teachers look for signs of early autism in kids by observing the way they eat, autistic kids tend to divide the meal into elements (peas, carrots, caviare, swan) and eat each, one at a time.

As the psychiatrist in Fawlty Towers says upon meeting Basil - "there's enough material here for an entire conference".

Dunno if it's a weird little habit or OCD....

In a pub, if I have a bag of peanuts (and I often do), I open the bag right up, and sort out the loose halves of nuts, from the ones that are still whole. And eat the halves first.

And when I cook pasta and sauce for dinner (and I often do), I serve the sauce on top of the pasta, but then eat it off the top first, and save most of the pasta for last.

Yeah, it's OCD isn't it?
…and have you spotted the little rabbit that sits at the bottom of one of the halves?

Whoops, Chilternrides already made that observation. Note to self: should read all the posts before quoting…
