Looking to the brains trust for some ideas.

One of my line reports is arriving in the UK today. He and his family are emigrating to the UK due to the political situation in Hong Kong. He has been working here in the UK on a self-supported visa for around a year. They have a 9-month old boy, who was supposed to be born in the UK but due to a delay in starting work here, his wife was not in a state to come over before he was born. He has some friends and family in the UK.

My boss has agreed that we should give them a gift, to the value of £40, to say "Welcome to the UK". Looking for some advice as to what to get them. They aren't short of cash, but obviously they have a lot to do to set up their home and find their feet as a family in the UK. Vouchers might be a good idea normally, but my experience is that in such times, sorting out how to spend them just causes more stress.

So, any ideas, please?

Something to give them an incentive to explore the surrounding country side.
- National Trust membership (probably above budget)
- Guide books/ Walking books

Or last resort tickets for Cadbury World

If they're not short of cash then presumably they don't "need" anything. So I'm thinking more along the lines of luxury items, or something that is hard to get unless you know the area. I guess a sort of hamper would be good, maybe fill it with info on local days out, and maybe some specialist foods from the local area (e.g. if I was welcoming someone to Devon I'd give them some good scones, jam and cream, maybe some pasties and a pack of Devon cider)

And/or things that would help them out that they wouldn't know about, like details fo local childcare, mum's groups, that sort of thing

They are going to be living in Sutton, South London, so going to be a long way from the countryside! ;)

Anyone in here from the Sutton area? @vickster is this your manor?
