Well the winter time is coming...

Every year the clocks go back and the darkness strikes. Cycling home last night after my shift seemed like riding through ink. And I'd swear the rain had a touch of sleet in it...

Still warm though and I've only been proper rained on once in months. It's either going to be snow drifts or shorts all winter.

Funnily enough, I just commented to my g/f that it seems darker now than it was last week! There's a half moon out, but it the darkness is REALLY dark!

As for snow drifts or shorts, I'm choosing shorts! ;)

Just cycled back in the dark for the first time this year, no traffic, warm, nice sky, if this is winter, you can keep summer !

Its funny, I enter the winter months with trepidation but at the end of last winter I was missing the dark nights and not exactly looking forward to summer ! light is ok, Dark is ok, its the neither here nor there I am not so keen on.

How do you know winter is coming?

Actually I feel more at home in the dark as a few of my commutes are at 4am or after 11pm.

It feels strange riding in while it's light, having just gotten used to it being dark. And even stranger riding back in the dark, especially having forgotten to take my high-viz with me due to rushing out of the house as I though I was late.

Been riding in to work in the dark for a couple of months now, but it always takes a little while to adjust to riding back home in the dark during rush-hour. In a few weeks it'll be dark before I get home, and a few weeks after that and it'll be dark as I leave work to ride home.

Cheerio summer (though you never really made much of an appearance this year, did you?)

That's what everyone says, but my diary doesn't agree. My work gets rained off when it's wet, and I had fewer cancellations this year. Nothing like the horribleness that was 2007.

July was not wonderful and August was wet but, otherwise, 2009 has been pretty fabulous, IMO. 18 degrees and dry in the last week of October, beats the snow we had 12 months ago.

I've not cycled home in daylight for at least 5 weeks, so makes difference in the evenings to me. I really enjoyed travelling in to work in the light for the first time in weeks yesterday though. Going to enjoy it while it lasts...

I'm not enjoying pottering along the cycle paths in the dark wishing my new lights would arrive. The 1w smart LED i'm using at the moment just doesn't cut the mustard.

Saying that i'm the ONLY cyclist who seems to have lights on. Everyone else is in stealth mode!
