Oh, on a sensible note, moving away from the "English country garden" ditty, if I'm in town, I either pop into a cafe/pub and buy a drink after, or use the loo in Debenhams without buying anything. I figure I've paid my dues by having to walk through the vile perfume bit by the entrance

Personally I don't usually buy anything in these establishments. They're not losing out on anything by letting me go for a wee and I'm more likely to come back to the shop later for non-weeing matters. Also, I think they'd look kindly on a chap weeing directly into a urinal, washing his hands and leaving directly. Some of the stuff you see in the gents is enough to make your eyes water. My heart goes out to the cleaners, everytime.

Really?

Once, I went to the ladies in a House of Fraser, to find two women bathing a baby in one of the handbasins.

Another time, in a service station, a woman was stripped naked and giving herself a strip wash in one of the handbasins. I wouldn't mind, but this was a SS that even has shower rooms if you go and ask for the key, and there's a big sign on the wall telling you to do just that!

Agreed. Had to use a seafront public loo yesterday. Don't know who was in one of the traps before I looked in, but what they left behind looked like a murdered monkey.
