Not just Debenhams - Sainsburys, Asda, Morrisons, Tesco, and (in Taunton) Hatchers and County Stores all have loos. Most pubs are OK about using theirs if you ask politely, so are petrol stations.

In the countryside its just a case of being part of nature and providing some extra nitrogen to the soil.

Being male is a definite advantage.

If I'm in the countryside I can usually find a suitable hedgerow or woods, but in built-up areas it's always more difficult. Some supermarkets have loos which is fine as long as you can secure your bike ok. I've found the radar key very useful as it gives you access to 24hr loos. And it's great being able to vanish inside with your bike as well!

My OH has bought me a Shewee after several jokes had been bandied about for ages between friends. I'm going to try and use it, as this weekend while stopping for a pee in long grass (rural route, not an A-road!) I managed to get two ticks, one on my calf, one on my thigh.

Euwwwwww, I got them out at home with eyebrow tweezers, but hideous. Burrowing beggars.
If you don't know, now is the season for ticks, they don;t jump, but drop off vegetation, and are potentially very dangerous.

As one gets older .... etc. etc. etc.

I too am in the country most of the time, where it's no problem. Cycling across London was once a real nightmare for me, street after street of suburban semis with neat front gardens, no chance! Was I glad to make it to Richmond Park! Even then I barely had time to run to the first available tree, in full view of all the other park cyclists...

Brighton can be pretty horrendous too. There used to be plenty of public loos, but the rise in 'cottaging' put paid to those, the Council decided the good folk of Brighton couldn't tolerate such "lewd behaviour", whatever their bladders may be telling them. So they were all closed. Best bet is to pop into one of the department stores around Churchill Square. Failing that, well there's always the naturist beach. Strip down, wade into the sea and Bob's your uncle....

In Town, McDonald's loos are always nice and they don't seem to mind.

"Strictly speaking, the toilet facilities are for McDonald's customers only," a spokeswoman says. "However, the restaurant manager is unlikely to take exception to potential customers using the toilet unless it's felt that the use of the facilities by non-customers is hindering paying customers at any given time."

Is it just my circle of friends that have a loo rating system, going from "no way" through "OK" to "good for a sit down"?

Aren’t we allowed to pee on the rear wheel of our vehicle? Allegedly motor vehicle drivers can. Appears a little unfair if not.

And it would remove some of the dirt off the brake blocks!

Yes - but sorry, the law specifically applies to motor vehicles.

I will be naughty and find a disabled loo as they are usualy larger, better lit, little used, cleaner, and they often have the baby changing table in there as well so to plonk your stuff on.

The great big fold down grab bars come in handy as well as it gives you something to grip firmly and bare down upon in times of strain.
