Were the Downing Street police men being unreasonable?

Forgetting for a moment the politice of the individual concerned, was he right in being annoyed by them?

Were they being jobs worths?

I would imagine that there is quite a lot to opening those gates -security measures etc. And he had already used them 3 times that day.

I suspect the Police got a bit tired of his attempts to look good riding out of the gates and told him to use the side gate like everyone else.

Well it's all a bit naff isn't it.

I'm sure the copper was doing his job, probably under instructions from who knows where.
So he stands his ground and sticks to his job and he's a jobsworth.
Matey on his bike is asked to use another exit and and mutters some mild abuse, and he's akin to Hitler.

So where is the story?

Cop is a little too officious. Maybe. Perhaps he shouldn't have been
MP is rude. Maybe. Perhaps he shouldn't have been.

I'd say it's a score draw.

I find it offensive to suggest there's any link to the horrific Cregan story. Seeking sympathy? there's a genuine feeling of grief in the police force at the moment - the idea that we would have to actively 'seek sympathy' was beyond me. I thought all decent people felt more than sympathy for those womens families, friends and colleagues. Guess I was wrong.

As for the security 'lock-down' this has been done for the past few years for all high profile, high risk prisoners. He had ****ing grenades and there's more unaccounted for. People helped him. Hes a gang member. He STAGED the murder of two women for showmanship. You think there's no chance at all this may not be the end of his sick plans and he should just be driven to the jail? You think there might not be other people out there, family to his dead victims that might fancy a chance?

MP being rude, Copper doing his job.
Meteor showers caught on camera.
Town centers have to prepare for older customers.

All of the above have been on the news this morning and are, IMO, not worthy of the air time. The time I wasted watching that 'news' could've been better spent doing something else such as picking my nose.

Done (I think. Using Tapatalk and it's gone all 'italliccy' on me... I can still see it but presume others can't?)

If it hasn't to any mod reading the thread I'm happy for it to be removed as above. Thanks!

I do too but there is no doubt some people and some of the media are linking them for their political agenda. I've heard several times over the past few days people in the media say "How could he when those two brave officers have just been killed" in an attempt to make what happened in Downing St appear much worse than it is.

To be honest I would get a bit shirty with a police officer who would happily open the gate (and is paid to do that role) for a car but not for a bicycle. Its not as if he's someone unknown to them whose trying to smuggle a few kilos of semtex out of Downing St.

I was going to suggest that he could've lifted the bike over the gate, but looking at it it looks like a right weight!, and what's that shopping basket all about?!:stop:http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...owning-Street-by-calling-them-fing-plebs.html
According to accountantpete he'd already had the gates opened for him three times that day. When i was a steward at Accy Stanley a few years ago one of my jobs was to open and shut the "big gates" to let folk go out in emergencies, ground ejections etc. I can tell you that there's nothing quite as annoying as someone who wants to be let out then let back in constantly, as the gates were heavy and took some unlocking and shifting. Yes i had some verbal exchanges with the ones who "just wanted to nip to their car for a ciggy" every 10 minutes, so if i was the copper i'd have done well to keep it shut and not given the poncy prat a gobfull!!:stop:

Another posh boy full of his own self importance. Lets hope that every police officer on duty at all government buildings goes out of their way to check his identification and search his brief case from now on, until he learns to respect those who contribute more to society than he does.

Except his job requires him to go in and out of Downing Streets to Government departments and to the Houses of Parliament and the police there are employed inter alia to open and shut the gate for those people. And clearly his colleagues had had no problem with opening and closing it for him several times before that day so why couldn't he. What you are saying is the police officer was either too lazy or considered himself too important to be doing the job he was there to do. A bit like the bellboy at a hotel telling you to carry your own bags.

We all know there are good and bad police officers around but suddenly because two were tragically killed there seems to be an assumption that they have suddenly all become unimpeachable angels. And we all know that is not true. We have all come across jobs-worth officers who just want to demonstrate their power or throw their weight around and they are still the same jerks this week as they were two weeks ago.
