This event first ran in 2014 and was filmed by the BBC for the adventure show. The second edition has just run from last Monday till just after midnight today. What an epic, thoroughly enjoyed it. You had to work hard to succeed, but such rewards. I believe @matticus rode the inaugural event.

Are you going to write up a wee ride report for us? Please!

I always like the first appearance to be print for Audax UK members.
:smooch:

At least summarise the weather for us! I've been out-of-touch with the weather Oop There while the Southern Heat Apocalypse has been on.
(as you may have noted, 2014 had exceptionally good weather - but it caused us negligible "difficulty". I could not possibly have ridden any 1000k+ event in The South this week. I only just struggled round 320km yesterday, using every trick in the book.)

Monday 6th - min 12C, average 15C, max 17c. Drizzle to Lochranza ferry, then rain got progressively heavier till Biblical proportions coming into Oban.

Tue 7th - min 12C, average 16C, Max 18C. Biblical amounts of rain, then got heavier before bivvy.

Wed 8th - min 11C, average 17C, max 20C. Started misty with light drizzle. Then from Ullapool cloud which turned to sun and cloud, which turned to pure blue skies along north coast.

Thu 9th - min 15c, average 21C, max 23C. Pure blue sky day.

Fri 10th - min 22c, average 27C, max 31C. Started off overcast which was great for Glen Coe ascent and Rannoch moor to Bridge of Orchy. By time I had had my full Scottish breakfast at the hotel, the heat wave was starting to reach this far north. Two applications of P20 needed before getting to finish.

Sat 11th - train home. Damned hot. Hotter than the sun.

Near enough half the field did not finish. If I have the number of starters correct.
