There's no way over that river in between is there? So it means riding inland, crossing the motorway, further inland before turning back towards the coast and back across the motorway? That makes it pretty much the same distance as driving up the motorway. Anyone know how hilly it is?

Try bikehike for possible routes. Don't know that bit myself, but from the map it looks as if you have to go through Congresbury.

A370 out of Weston to Congresbury - it's a bit of a rat run but better than before the M5 opened. Then turn left off the main road into Yatton and take the road across Kenn Moor into Clevedon. Outside Clevedon, head towards Posset (Portishead) and at East Clevedon triangle you have a choice of the hilly coast road into the top of Posset or the flat bottom road (which is straight on at the triangle) through Weston-in-Gordano and North Weston into the main part of Posset. In the days I lived there we called it the village, but it's grown rather. Check on the map, because it's probably twenty years since I rode that route.
