I recently upgraded to much lighter pair of Specialized MTB shoes. They look like road shoes, but have the recess for SPD. I have been really impressed at how quickly they dry. They also have a distinct heel area thus ensuring that overshoes can be worn with the middle (under sole) bit not touching the ground.

sounds interesting, what model are they?

I cycle a smidge over six miles each way. I normally wear my work clothes and a cycle jacket, I don't work in a office. If its very wet I have a pair of overshoes that keep my feet dry and I use a light weight waterproof jacket and over trousers. I normally arrive dry as long as remember to take it easy, If I get sweaty and damp I normally only need to change my t shirt.

I've got 2 waterproof coats, 1 cost me £45 in TK max and the other i got through work and it retails @ about £250! Thing is, if i wear the cheap one i get wetter underneath than if i didn't bother even though its supposed to be breathable! My advice, spend as much as you can afford on waterproofs because that gore tex badge really is worth the money. If you live in the uk it'll be cash well spent!!
