Much better.....
Swapped the 2.0 tyres on the MTB to 1.5 slicks - what a difference this morning
Last week I was beginning to really dislike the ride to work as I exhausted myself in a couple of miles trying to keep any kind of speed whilst the knobblies buzzed along deafeningly and I bounced around on the low pressure fat tyres.
I could even start to enjoy riding the MTB to work now...just need some new shifters and swap the cassette over from the mangled explorer (which is "spare parts" now I believe as the claim has been put in for a replacement bike rather than repair) as the MTB currently has a 7sp cassette but a wide range - fine for its original intended purpose but could do with a narrower range with the extra gears.
Pondering whether to put the riser bars back on or not...the flats I like better off-road but it makes the bars a little low, might be a softie and go for the comfort option if it means that I might start taking longer routes to work again soon
