I'm doing the Welsh Three Peaks tomorrow - I woke at 7am with the understanding that work must be done; cycle to train station and pick up train tickets, come home and finish packing, grab a bath and into work. Alas, this was not to be. Brought the bike out, wind blows the door shut. I am locked out.

Decide to go get tickets and figure things out later. Once back climb onto the kitchen extension and attempt to climb through my open window - a blind blocks my entry (is screwed to a bit of 2x4 and bolted to the inside under-hang(?!)).

Call my housemate, his mum is in with a spare key. I cycle to her house. I get back, key won't work. My key is on the inside.

Call housemate, explain the situation and he leaves it to me to resolve.
Climb back onto kitchen extension, onto the window sill, reach in and wrench the blind off the wall. I climb in.
I still had to do all the things I needed to do.

I suppose it's most fortuitous that I was locked out with phone, wallet and mode of transport!

I stayed in a cottage in Wales recently and there was something wrong with the front door lock. It was possible to lock yourself in! Seriously, it was a right pain and potentially dangerous in case of fire. We did it on the 3rd day and the most agile member of the group had to climb out of the front window to open the door from outside!

Although I do spend a large amount of time wandering about the house naked (when Ryans not there of course), I don't go near the front door in such a state.

I'm afraid that my clambering-out-of-windows days are just about gone! If the cottage had been on fire, I'd have got out of the window somehow but my hips wouldn't have thanked me for it ...
