Hi there,
FINALLY got given the go ahead on Thursday for cycling again after my accident, broken finger, surgery for screws in said broken finger, and then recovery time!
Only trouble is my carbon fibre forks got damaged in the accident and the LBS has been unable to source now ones. He says that Trek have discontinued the bike and the forks and he can't find replacements wtih the right clearance for the brakes in carbon. There is no way that I am risking using the damaged forks - I've heard all sorts of horror stories about carbon and sudden breakage and don't fancy the fall if the forks break!
I contacted my Solicitor to see if I could get a new bike (as my original bike can't be repaired to its original condition) and unfortunatley the other side have not admitted liability yet so she can't get an interim payment at the moment for anything like that!
I can't believe that the other side are not admitting liability - it's such a pain as it delays everything. The police and my solicitor both quoted laws at me that state that drivers/passengers have a duty of care to not open doors onto people in the road!
I really don't want to delay my return to the bike for much longer - it's already been 7 weeks - so think I will have to just go with aluminium forks and get cycling again - does seem a bit unfair though!
Just a general rant really and anyway I wanted to join in again it's been so long - I've missed you all!
