Did the Chris Hoy 'ride it' yesterday and he thoroughly impressed me with his overall niceness. He took a picture of me (well, several of us at the sign in) and my son can tell stories of riding with him for long sections and having lots of chats with him and his team (one of whom fell off and broke his collar bone!)

In the school gym used as the pre and apres-ride HQ, he was happy to pose with pictures with anyone wanting to talk to him and basically thought of himself as being just the same as any rider who'd taken part in the event and sat amongst us all eating pasta and talking over events of the day.

Compare that to the Van Morrison-like behaviour of the other cycling knight of the realm and Chris Hoy wins hands down.

That's a coincidence, when I spoke to Chris on the phone last night he said he'd met this bloke called Paul who he thought was really nice, and that his son was a much better rider than him!

This is my grandson, my daughter-in-law and my son (in KoM mode) meeting the great man.

Sir Chris walked passed me at the bottom of Finnieston Street by the Squinty Bridge at 0800 ish, during Glasgow 14. He was a bit perplexed why he couldn't enter the building I was standing outside till he realised it was a restaurant. Just then a friend called him over to the Hilton. As he walked over the road I just had to give him a wee look over and was astonished to witness that all that was left of his track cycling power physique was his wee cute bum. Power thighs gone! He looked very trim.
Oh well back to reality. Gave that image far too much air time. I need to get ready for my cycle commute to work. Though I may replay it from time to time to cheer me up on my lonely cycle commute. Only when it's safe to do so by the way, am no that daft!

I think it's a lovely image, dear song thrush!

I know Victoria Pendleton was mourning the loss of her thigh muscles not long after she stopped racing. It must be odd undergoing such a change in body shape but the whole thigh thing is rather extreme!
T'was not jealousy my friend, merely an observation that Mr Hoy doesn't look like the typical skinny racing snake!
Fair enough! ^_^

It's amazing how quickly the body responds to changes in the demands we place upon it. Three weeks ago I completed the C2C in five quite leisurely days on my heavy Tricross and I'm still enjoying the benefits in smooth spinning power.

It's all relative. Unless you've got enough muscle to appear in an Expendables movie then you ain't trying hard enough. He looks pretty weedy to my eye, though indeed more stacked than the typical pro cyclist.
