Right everybody, I had had a few when the original post went up and exaggerated a few points. There is ONE nest under the apex of the roof, and there has only ever been one. Not knowing what it was I gave it a quick squirt with the hose when I was gardening a good while ago. I have destroyed NOTHING, and the birds are there thriving - there were 3 in there when I left this morning. Now I know what I think they are then that`s great. Can we leave it here please, I`ve had enough of the scaremongering and the bullying here. I made one genuine mistake, now done my research, and all is fine

Let's hope that the bullies take note.

In fact, I'd like to say that there are few greater pleasures in life as far as I'm concerned than sitting out on a summer evening with a cold one watching the swifts, martins or swallows (whatever you're lucky enough to have) swooping and diving and performing their aerial acrobatics, wonderful!
And the added bonus of their shrill exited babble as they 'dogfight' in groups of 6 or so, jinking in and out of houses, trees etc. I can sit there for hours just smiling at their antics and what appears to be great fun for them.

We have Starlings turn up nesting every year, they land on the LNB and cut our satelilite signal, pain in the rear.
Bought two boxes on them clear plastic bird spike things to stick a bit on the LNB and the rest on the guttering,
Where are they? still sitting in the boxes in the shed
