Look at the video of Night Boat to Cairo, and tell me those guys weren't having fun doing that?

And now look at the empty, soul-less karaoke singers preening and pouting in a vain attempt to catch the judge's eye, and witness the deep-down sorrow that they must be feeling for selling out before they even got started.

Not even remotely interested in the later!

F**k sake "Comedy Pilot" what've you done, I deliberately try to stay off You Tube.

Yeh!!!! Madness are good, no doubts about that. They're having fun. That's what all these wannabe's don't realise - it's not about Money - its about doing something you love??;)

...and nostalgia [aka heroin for old people]

If I was Cowell I'd sit my acts down in front of this and ask them what was the difference between them and it?

Answer - talent/love of the craft!

That man, and all he stands for, suck the life out of the music 'industry' and, unless independants fight back, 'bland mediocrity' is here to stay

Preaching to the converted I'm afraid!

Up until recently - the majority of bands I was into were vitually undiscovered talent! Shame is they don't want the same as you and me - they just want fame and money!

The last "great" undiscovered band I was into "the Smiles" became Texas(session musicians) after supporting them. It killed my belief that all bands weren't just after fame/money? I'd saw them 10 times as virtual nobody's and awaited their first LP with great interest!

Things like this tend to go in circles - the market place / media will reach saturation point(like with Waterman years ago).

Problem with a lot of the independants is that - they've lost their true independance, most being owned by the multinationals now.;)

Couple of my mates were in several gigging bands a few years back. The multi's were signing young bands with "ingenuity/promise" to stop there being a counter revolution to their control of the music scene.

Hopefully "ComedyPilot" there will be a true "Independant Revolution" before you and me are too old / senile to appreciate it.

I had just made the jump from Clapton to Hendrix via a recorded interview after going back to the Bluesbreakers when sleep struck. I wouldn't have known though that I'd gone in such a neat circle!
