The Austin, TX based Bobby Earl Smith's new CD 'Turn Row Blues' - his first for 10 years. Couple of notables playing on it - James Burton and Lloyd Maines.
Lovely, he signed it for me too!

What's happened to you Crock - what's the 'guest' thing mean?

I put Countdown To Ecstasy on recently and I couldn't believe how good it still sounded. I wouldn't mind getting a best of either. I've got a cassette bootleg of Little Feat doing Dirty Work somewhere in a box - wouldn't mind digging that one out again!

It's called 'very best of' now, Mort - same tracks (33 tracks over 2 CDs) by the look of it, just cheaper. Bah!

The sound is top quality - Fagen and Becker certainly know what they're up to. As did Lowell and his boys.

'Before the Frost' new LP by the Black Crowes. Bought it a while back but only just got around to giving it a spin.

It's green vinyl!

A bit of Serge Gainsbourg, ahead of the new biopic of him coming out in the cinemas at the end of this month.

I first listened to 'L'histoire de Melody nelson' about three months back and still can't believe how excellent (and musically influential) it is. Of course, the plot running through the songs (Serge drives his Rolls Royce about the french countryside before crashing into a teenage girl cyclist called Melody and then subsquently seduces her in a sleazy way) is not what you'd call wholesome but the music is fantastic. I can see where Air got pretty much all their ideas from.
