Have you heard any of Leon's new album with Elton John? It;s been getting heavy rotation on the radio here and some of it is (whisper...) really good.

I'm not Reg's biggest fan, but credit to him for dragging Leon back into the spotlight. And I've been listening to the Tumbleweed Connection and it's not half bad either.

I saw a bit of the BBC electric prom with Elt and Leon, Leon is really cool - all of it was pretty good and credit to Reg, he sure can play.

Leon has always had a bit of a croaky voice but in later life it suits him more and more, sounds really good to me and like you say fair play to Elton for giving the old boy a bit of well deserved recognition.

Here Here. I think the BBC did a good job with The Electric Prom. A classic gig, glad I recorded it. They also did one a couple of years ago with Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) which was another classic.

Back up on Youtube.......the gorgeous segue sequence from when Jerry nods the start of the journey and the tempo change at 3'20" to the communal decision to land on I Know You Rider at 9'03". As usual, he lets Bob flirt and tamper with the lead for a bit, but you can see he's itching to take back the helm, and then nodding some more when he's in full flight - when Jerry nods mid-jam, all's right with the world, and check out the immaculate, spontaneous, demonstrative-then-delicate lick at 8'30" that makes Bob smile.

Ah, the delight and the band dynamics of improvised groove playing in 1974. :becool:

Connoisseurs of astronomy, cosmology and high-calibre 1980s documentaries will recall the excellent Cosmos series, presented by Carl Sagan, which included some stunning space art and photography.

This was also accompanied by a very nice soundtrack, which I've just fished out again, my favourites being:

Admirable. :becool:

Bloody hell Foggy: not seen you around for a while! Have you read the autobiography of the century yet?

And FWIW, my current listening is the captivating Art Pepper meets The Rhythm Section. Uplifting, cheerful, breezy, classic jazz.

Right, with you.

Was aware of it, but, notwithstanding his quality riffs and playing style, I find him too irritating to invest time in finding out what he thinks about things or has done in his life. What am I missing out on, then?
