Currently having a Daphne Oram experience... or an Oramic experience, or maybe even an Orasm

I keep meaning to write an essay (or maybe a book!) about the forgotten women of science, of which Daphne is one...

In 1986 after I unexpectedly left the Navy, I found myself in Guildford. My pianist girlfriend had left me for a submariner so I ended up in digs with an old couple who sunbathed nude in the garden and kitchen listening to Jim Reeves. I got a job in a metalworking shop on the other side of town (£88 a week) and had to walk the 6 miles or so each day in what was one of the coldest winters since the last one. I had a Walkman (copy) and 3 cassettes - Big Country "Steeltown", Bruce Springsteen "Born in the USA" and this one by Meat Loaf. I honestly haven't heard this in 30 years and it's weird hearing it now.
