Dug out "Glory Boys - Secret Affair" only last week on vinyl - still gives me goose pimples 30 years on. One of my all time best fave albums.;):biggrin:

Found out they'd reformed few years ago on You Tube - Ian Page with a pot belly:blush:(can't say much - knocking on myself).

Purple Hearts - Beat That! (not a challenge, the LP)

From a site called Goldenmp3 really good prices like 10p a tune.
Must be good my S-I-L found it for her as to save the kid a load of money on itunes 79p a song.

Me too. Purple hearts were the ones who did Millions like us weren't they? I used to have a purple heart medal on my parka at the time. What about the Chords and the Merton Parkas?

Yip! Did "Millions like us" The Purple Hearts were only about 16 when they were recording there own stuff!!!!!!!! Loved the Chords "Somethings Missing" LP, "Maybe Tomorrow","She said,She said","What are we gonna do now" - Merton Parkas "Put me in the picture","Flat 19(?)"Face In The Crowd" LP Ok too!(not my favourites though). Lambrettas, The Directions, Small Hours, Long Tall Shorty. I was only 11 when all they bands were at there peak. But I caught the next wave in 84 /85, The Moment, Manual Scan, Makin' Time,The Scene etc,etc and the legendary Prisoners.(look back on here)

Schools round here were closing for mid-term couple of weeks ago, as I cycled past I noticed all the kids were in civie's(not uniform). One of them had all his Mod gear on - looked pretty cool - Parka / Jam Shoes the lot. Was going to stop and talk to him(ask what he was listening to) - then realised I'm now a forty one year old man. You can't just do that nowadays. I just think it's amazing that kids like/find that music now - but it was the same when I was younger.(late 70's early to mid 80's)

I was a Mod for about 8 years - then a Scooterboy for 4(scruffier mod). You never leave it - I still bump into my old mod mates round town / in business - we all talk about the bands / records / old times / scooters. Some have started up a Scooter Club. Some still DJ - the kids love Northern Soul and Tamla / Stax / Trojan ....etc. Brilliant!!!!!!!!xx(:biggrin:
