Simon Mayo's book review on a podcast but it didn't half annoy me as one of the books his panel reviewed got a huge thumbs up but I read it on holiday three weeks ago and it was so bad and so unrealistic, it almost ruined my break. It was Ordinary Thunder by William Boyd and it was a real let down. I think when they have them on the programme, which Boyd was, then they can't review it properly as they're busy sucking up to the author concerned.

Cheers, Renard - got the original Mods Mayday 79 LP, not in double album format though. I'm pressuming somebodys got hold of the masters for the whole gig and reissued them(in 2002) - with the whole Secret Affair set etc. Brilliant.

Brief Encounter by Noel Coward on Radio 2 the protagonists Jenny Seagrove and Nigel Havers to celebrate the Maida Vale 75th Anniversary. Brilliantly played by both of them. Perhaps not quite the late 1940's angst but bang up to date nonetheless. Try and catch it again on BBC i-player if you can.
