The Cutter and The Killing Moon.....amazing!!!!!!!

It's a shame that "Echo and the Bunnymen" aren't regarded by "the masses" as representative of the 80's. Like the Jesus and Marychain, The Cocteau Twins, Spear of Destiny, P.I.L, Sisters of Mercy, the Cult and hundreds of others.

They're pushed into the shadow's by the success of Duran Duran, Heaven 17, Spandau Ballet and the like.
Not that there's anything wrong with DD,H17,SB et all - just the "real bands" are forgotten/unheard of by todays youff!

I have been listening a lot to Joy Division recently. It's strange it took me so long to get into them as they were around during my favourite musical period, 1977-79. I think I must have been too young at the time and, obviously being good, they were hardly ever on the radio and not on TOTP. They were on regional telly and late night radio 1, but unfortunately not my part of the world, and I didn't listen to John Peel then. Also, their album recordings seemed nothing like their live performance: more like 80's electronic than rock. Their live performances must have been superb, if YouTube is any guide.

I tend to agree, except that I think DD, H17, SB et al were pure excrement.

....and mine, then New Order!

....they all had reasonable songs in their very early sets pre-fame!! Then started playin' commercial s**t* once the New Romantic bandwagon got rolling. ;)
Personally I never liked any of them - but had a girlfriend at the time who did.
I was into Two Tone, Ska and Northern Soul at the time but couldn't ignore what was going on elsewhere in other music scenes(JD etc).
