Just had my first decent session up at the allotment. Onions and garlic are planted, and put in a few new rhubarb plants as well (I know its late, but what the hell).

Debating growing celery for the first time... never have before, so would be nice to experiment. Tomatoes as usual... hoping to avoid the blight this time round though!

What are you putting in?

We just have a raised planter that I made two years ago. We do spuds in bags, spring onions, lettuce, beans and have tried and failed 2 years running with tomatoes that haven't ripened. They're not wasted but find their way in to chutney.

Not much yet! I haven't had much time to get to the allotment.

Haven't even got my potatoes ordered yet. Sprouting broccoli that has overwintered is all that is growing save fruit trees and bushes.

I expect I'll grow some potatoes, onions, leeks, squash and pumpkins and similar-shaped stuff that takes up a good deal of room in the weedier areas, borlotti beans (my favourite allotment crop), broad beans, broccoli for next year, a few other things that I decide while looking at the seed packets in the shed supplies shop up the road.

Got some first earlies in the greenhouse along with a hundred or so onions to bring them on.

Going to try some secret onion fertilizer this year (bird droppings).

I'm really struggling to get ethusiastic this year for some reason. I'm sure once the garlic's sown I'll be back on track- probably next weekend. I'm lucky the allotment is in a great spot though, surrounded by fields and trees and only 100 yards or so from the house. It's easy to spend hours down there just wildlife spotting without doing any digging. A grass snake spent last summer under some corrugated iron I have and he used to nip my fingers when I picked him up to admire. I also put a small pond in last year and at least one frog has already found it so I'm hoping maybe some frogspawn might appear soon. Slightly odd first crop I guess!

That's the whole point of having an allotment.

I only grow stuff down there so the council doesn't take it off my hands.

Giving tomatoes a miss this year as I never get a good crop (shady afternoons), so might give chillies a go in the cold frame
Planned most is salad crops plus onions and garlic, maybe some brassicas all planted in the flower beds

I've just got fuggles now, cascade didn't like our weather, but the fuggles are only in their third year. Could be enough for a brew or two, will find out the end of September/ early October.
Just went for a look and my fuggles are 6inches long, better start training them. Thanks for the reminder:thumbsup:
We have tomatoes, potatoes, onions, chillis, peas and beans. We are also going to give some broccoli a go this year. Oh and parsnips, I love parsnips!
Forgot to sow my parsnips... might do that next weekend, but time is getting on a bit.

Potatoes, onions, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, kolrabi in the ground. Tomatoes, broad beans, black eye beans, borlotti beans, chillies, peppers, aubergines, courgettes (one can only but try) in fleece covered greenhouse. Lettuce, rocket and cooking herbs in pots. Strawberries in new soil.
Flowers everywhere ^_^
Forgot: took over the communal back garden, planted raspberries, blueberries, and another fruit of the forest, can't remember the name, but it will surely taste great with yogurt.
