Vangelis' score for Blade Runner. Absolute classic, works as a stand-alone album just as well.
Any of the Ennio Morricone scores, with a particular nod to 'The Ecstasy of Gold' from The Good The Bad and The Ugly (Metallica's intro music!).
Of the modern 'compilation album soundtrack' genre, I think Lost Highway is particularly good- Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails put together an eclectic but coherent selection, including original pieces for the film (by himself, Barry Adamson and Angelo Badalamenti) and songs from others including David Bowie and Rammstein. Dark, intense music for a dark, intense film.
And mentioning Mr Badalamenti, Twin Peaks...
