You'll be doing laps - I reckon you could do Mainland in a day....

Certainly Papay is walkable round in less than a day, with long stops to look at the sea and eat oatcakes.

We have never been ones for cycling long distances, we will string it out for as long as possible. Its more the camping and savouring the Orkadian life style were looking for.

A few weekend camping trips, loads of Saturday or Sunday rides with the Yorkshire CC posse, and the embryonic plan of a 4/5 day mtb trip to Bavaria, or a tour from Bavaria to Cologne along the Rhine.

Ah, are you planning to set up your tent on the verge outside the Highland park distillery then?

Mind you, the day I cycled when I was up there, the headwind (for all but 500yards of a circular ride) meant I could probably have taken three weeks to do 50 miles....

Baggy has just reminded me that a Holme Moss by moonlight ride would be good as it never got off the ground last year.

I would really like to do a 100 miler this year - me and mrs rh managed just under 30 last year after a couple of months from starting cycling. So I reckon 100 should be doable if I keep at it.

I also fancy some camping trips with the bike - either going a short distance around Warwickshire over a week - or take the bikes on a train and go to my favourite area of Dorset. Something to think about.

^ we should have gone for it. There was only myself and MarinYork ready and able on the day/night and the weather wasn't that good, it wasn't that bad either so should have just done it.
