Hi,
i want to get back into riding again, I have just started using an old mtb on a turbo The problem I have is that i have already run out of gears. I am looking to buy a new , cheap (£100 ish ) road bike to put on the turbo.

My initial thoughts were halfords (Apollo/Carrera) or GOoutdoors (|Viking).

any thoughts/ideas would be helpful. I will probably need a small. I have got an ebay search running daily but very little is coming up that fits the bill, most are too big:-(

cheers

Seems a bit of an outlay just to put a bike on a turbo! Can you up the resistance on the turbo? Alternatively it'd be cheaper to put a cassette on the MTB with an 11 cog. That should be high enough for anything.

it's a kurt kinetic road machine, the spinning roller ups the resistance. the mtb has low gearing , i will have a look and see what block is on there and what I can get for it..

I think the first question is to ask what sort of bike you want for actual riding and worry about fitting the turbo into that, rather than letting the turbo drive your bike choice.

we picked up the mtb (womens) becuase the other half was going to use it too, but the fact the garage is cold and 'full' of spiders meant she didn't really use it. I have a 700c hybrid and a slicked up MTB that are the main day to day bikes when I am riding, but i am hoping to get either a cx or gravel bike later in the year once i've got some fitness back. This is just a stop gap that can be left on the turbo and oiled occasionally....

What size are you looking for ?

Have you looked on your local Gumtree? Can still pick up old ten speed racers running 52/42 chainset cheap enough.
Can tidy it up a bit while still using it on turbo and possibly make a couple of quid selling it.
