What bike?

I know you get this a lot Looking to buy a road bike for around the £200 mark, no more. I know this limits my options and I know that someone will ask if I can fork out an extra £100 for a Triban and the answer is, no - I can't.

The bike has to last around two months and that's when I'll be getting *gifted* a brand new Triban 3.

Oh, it has to be a 52cm road bike.

MatthewT posted a Muddyfox for £200 before - I presume he can provide some feedback - no 52 on that site, but you'll need to check the actual geometry of the others. May come up big or small (like the Triban )

Seen that bike before, doesn't come in the right size + I'm not sure how I'd feel about the downtube shifters. Seems quite heavy, 14kg.

Erm, then you'll need second hand if you want anything better (if you are lucky, most of the decent used stuff goes for way more)...or find that extra £100 Nothing at £200 is going to be light or have STIs...how about a flat bar hybrid, you'll get more for your money

Not expecting intergrated shifters, I just don't like them being on the downtube. The stem is okay though.

Sure it's ok for the money if it only has to last a few weeks, no 52cm frame though and seems a slightly false economy. The way the Tribans are selling, there may be none left (although seems to be the bigger ones that are in highest demand)

If your getting a bike in 2 months, why not save your cash then when your bike comes, you can kit
yourself out

Spending £200 on something for such a short term use is a waste of cash, plus getting rid of the bike (unless the person is not that bright) will be a bottom ache.

Everyone is different. Say they buy bikes they don't want then take them back to a shop for a
full refund. Others choose the bikes they want and some really lucky ones get a present.
