what bike do you already have?

That trip could be done on any bike really....but it depends what you are after....speed, comfort, carrying bags etc etc...

if it were me id do it on my bianchi....or any half decent road bike and sleep at hostels/ cheap hotels ....

trouble is with the road bike option you can't take stuff with you... like a change of clothes.... (well, you can't on mine anyway)

you could do that trip easy enough with that bike and a small rucksac with the very minimum in it like I did on le jog...or you can take a full touring rig and the kitchen sink...

...I say a small rucksack...the bike you have and go for it....but I am not you so...it all depends how much you feel you need to carry and if you are staying 100% on road.

id take a lightweight foldable waterproof jacket, overshoes, cycle shirt and bib shorts x2 ,gloves, glasses, helmet ,gps, socks, toothbrush/paste, small shampoo, sports towel, base layer long sleeved, passport, credit card, smart phone/charger with camera, puncture stuff, spare tube, pump, small chain lube, small cycle rucksack, hi vis rucksack cover, lights.

all of that stuff is actually in the pic in my avetar

Did my first 20 mile commute last Wednesday using a small rucksack but never again as it made my back so hot and uncomfortable, can only wonder what it would be like for 6 days.

Try a Kriega rucksack. I use to use mine for Motorbike rides, 200 300 mile plus. All the weight is on your hips and not on your shoulders. Unbelievably comfortable and believe the hype, you do forget your wearing it as it works so well. Think bent over on a cramped sportsbike at motorway+ speeds with no worry at all. Used mine on bike a few times and perfect. 25l pack aint cheap now though. Think they are over £100 but mine was much less 4 years ago. Oh and they are incredibly strong. Mine looks like new, waterproof and should you tumble......not a mark on them.
Good luck with the trip evogirl not jealous much:sad:
