I've just re-read "A Good Place to Die" by James Buchan. A misleading title for a unique love story set in revolutionary Iran.

He gets the atmosphere and environment exactly right.

As an aside I've never understood the popularity of the Discworld novels. They are very formulaic and are really, imo, best suited as a teenage read

For me it's the references to classic literature littered throughout the books, I doubt many teenagers will 'get' those, some they might but there's allsorts in there.
