I might concede in that brake cables can be grey if you have a 90's Dura Ace 7400 series equipped bike, which had grey anodising.

Last winter I put red tape on my bike winter bike that has red on the frame, see my avatar. The tape is still good but I have gone off the idea and will return to black at some stage.

There are an awful lot of boring black cars about and even black wheels, they need something shiny. I`am just saying !

I thought bar tape only came in two colours. Black or grubby.

White cables and bar tape.

Bar tape can be washed clean at a self-serve car wash with a pressure hose. It works.
