What can be done to free up cycle lanes that have parked cars on them?

There's a worse one, subaqua will know it, up Alexandra Road I think, as it joins Grove Green, the road is much narrower so you ride clear of the door zone and you get beeped.
oh yes, from oliver road up to Dyers hall Road ( both ways) the cycle farcilities are terrible. actually bordering on lethal. Google maps streetview now shows how bad it is.

I do miss freewheeler and his blog

Motorists have very well-funded insurance companies who can sue the authorities for negligence if they can prove the road layout contributed to a road accident - cyclists don't.
I beg to differ. CTC or if in London LCC (hackspit) have insurance cover for cyclists in this sort of situation

I was thinking about that the other day. HC says don’t park within ten yards of junctions. Often near where I live you get stupid dirty great tit panzers with tinted windows parked right by the junction so you can’t see diddly squit, an emerging driver’s view is also blocked and he pulls out and hits the cyclist. What are the chances of suing the stupidly parked tit panzer’s owner for parking like a complete fud?

Are CTC or LCC "very well-funded"? As "well-funded" as car insurance companies who have a legally-mandated base of 38 million UK drivers?
I am aware that CTC has gone to bat to support points of law relevant to cycling safety (e.g. right to ride in primary position) but do they have the legal funds to threaten all the councils who put up unsafe facilities?

How about getting a kid on one of those trials-type bikes to hop onto the bonnet, ride over the roof and drop down onto the road on the other side?

Perhaps that will dissuade the 'herberts' from parking there in future?

Another reason to ride in primary position, point at the protruding car while smirking at the following car.

I have often thought about printing a batch of sticky labels with an "Inconsiderately Parked" message on them, to slap onto the windows of such cars. Easy enough to do while riding a bicycle.

Lovely.

and yet, when the parking warden sticks a ticket on for that illegal parking, they'll run bleating to the local rag.

Is that on a bike with Marathon winters fitted?

I'm not a fan of green painted gutter, the cars can park there all they like for me, it gives me something to point at if drivers want a moan about me being in a safer and more visible road position

Why on Earth would a member use a business name as their online ID, use the business logo as their avatar and even sign off a post using the business name?

Someone with a slightly cynical outlook might suspect it was a BS question pitched at gaining a good volume of replies while getting the name of the business out there.

I'm not a cynic myself; I'm just saying....
I think that's a despicable thing to suggest Boris, you should hang your head in shame. Such thoughts certainly never entered my mind for a second.
