A local boy who has come to me previously for 'help' with his bike has now brought this which is frankly a bit of a mess as you can see. He says a car hit his derailleur and now he can't use it at all.
The one piece crankset BB has too much play. Wheel bearing cups loose but could be adjusted. I know what you're all going to say, best to take it to the scrap heap.
So, new (home used) frame (called a 'body' here) or another bike altogether?

You can in fact buy cheap derailleur here but I think maybe the dropout has suffered in the 'car crash' although might be able to straighten.
He's quite tall and it's a small frame plus 24" wheels so perhaps he ought to move to something bigger. The seat post has been welded into the frame and someone has also welded V mount posts onto the rear stays but one has fallen off.
