What chain?

Hi guys,

I recently changed my rear cassette and didn't realise it was standard practice to replace the chain at the same time. Fail, that will explain the rubbish ride at the moment then!

So, my running gear is mostly Ultegra 6700 10 speed (other than the Tiagra rear cassette I just fitted), what chain do you guys recommend I fit?

The Shimano CN-6701 is about £15 at the moment so I'm leaning towards that, however I've read a couple of posts where people seem to think Shimano chains are poor. So, whats the preferred alternative? I'd like to keep the cost under £20 ideally.

That's the one I use.
It will be fine for your set up. Will have a about 112 links.
Just place your old chain along the floor, place the new one against it, check length, link to link, and get jiggy with a chain splitter. Or count links if you so desire.

Get yourself a chain wear guide. No point changing it if it doesn't need changing.

Oh, well it would explain my drivetrain running like a sack of poo straight after a rear cassette replacement... either way, I fitted the new chain this morning so shall report back once I've taken it out for a spin.

Doh, too late. I will probably reuse the old chain on my single speed project if it has life left in it.
