It's not fair really as I'm very educated and knowledgeable about all sorts of things.

I would like to go the theatre more often but the last time I looked they had Hamlet on. Why would I waste money going to look at a packet of cigars?

If I don't include the inheritance from my family then I come up as established middle class, else I'm elite. Elite seems to means 'loads of savings' & nought to do with anything else.

I got a real shock the first time someone said to me that their parents didn't let them watch ITV as a kid!
So since then, that's been my main class-o-meter. If you watched ITV, you're probably 'like me', if you didn't, you probably aren't.

Technical middle class. Apparently for three reasons:
  • Mix socially with people similar to themselves
  • Work in research, science and technical fields
  • Enjoy emerging culture such as going to the gym and using social media
Truth is, I barely mix socially at all, apart from drinking with mates; I don't work in research, science and technical fields; I don't go to the gym, and I never use social media. Apart from that, they're right on the money.

Established Middle Class, whatever that means! Is this another way of divide and conquer by our Tory betters!!!

Maybe there should be a CC Class system based on number of miles/number of bikes/amount of (unnecessary) cycling gear/etc.

I resent them thinking I am not very cultured. I read four 19th century novels last year. Where is the tickbox for that?
