we have also changed our dual fuel supplier from EON to EDF and should save us over £200 in doing so .

I've not made any cutbacks as I'm incredibly lucky that I don't really have to. I will be changing energy supplier once I'm out of contract with EDF and have just moved from Talk Talk to Virgin for the phone and broadband. It's working out more expensive but the internet connection with TT was so atrocious that I'm beyond caring about the cost.

Being made redundant a couple months ago made me look further, i could already see things were costing more...
Already changed to First Utility for my energy, very pleased with the costs...and it still costs
I find myself buying more unbranded stuff from the supermarkets..Weetabix for instance, buy Asdas own brand, save around 30%, try a branded one and an Asda one...yeah the taste is very slightly different, but its good all the same.
Shopped more at Aldis while ive had time on my hands, their fruit n veg, bread etc is very cheap compared with the majors...its just picking and choosing the right stuff.
We certainly havn't been eating out as much, we'd cut some of that back even before i got made redundant.
Try not to use the tumble drier, thats been reduced a lot.

On the plus side, start my new job tomorrow, even went out for a meal Tuesday evening to celebrate.

The last couple months havn't been too hard, the wife works almost full time, iv'e got my redundancy pay and Lieu of Notice is to come in the next few weeks and there's plenty in the bank...but its so easy to start chipping into it, we've probably made more cuts than neccessary, just to make sure the balance doesn't start slipping. Iv'e been very lucky compared to some.

Changed from a £30/month mobile contract to a £5/month (providing phone co. gets it right). So the 24 month contract will cost same as previous 3 months.

Very influenced by being given a phone by my employer though!

stopped buying starbucks type frothy coffee everyday, (bought a stove top espresso maker)
cancelled multi channel tv package (just used a freeview recorder)
bought real food instead of M and S ready made
used bike for commuting and more than halved car miles

Buy own brand groceries (the ones that taste ok) *
Use Aldi/Lidl for their deals more frequently
* This seems to have kept my weekly big shop spend the same rather than increase!

Changed my car, reducing VED from £210 to £90 per year and halving my fuel consumption.
Plan to change gas/electric supplier.

Try and put some money aside in case of emergency and overpay my mortgage.

Only have one takeaway a month (come to think of it, I only ever did that anyway!)

bad downturn in business. People dont want to spend or dont have it to spend. Presently looking for a part-time job to help with expenses. My wife is very worried!
