    Bearing in mind that Great Britain adopted the current calendar year later than most places.

    Google says: Julian calendar which preceded the Gregorian calendar. The Gregorian calendar was adopted in 1582.

    The great thing about dates that are in the past is that they are in the past and you can't change them.

    Or am I missing something ?

    The Julian Calendar was replaced by the Gregorian Calendar. Extra days added.
