When I was a lad I used to half heartedly collect stamps and still have the collection somewhere. Nowadays I collect first editions by Anthony Burgess and Len Deighton.

Sometimes when I pass antique shops I think I could collect antique cufflinks and old sets of scales, the ones where you get a nice set of brass weights.

So come on, own up, what did/do you collect and what would you like to collect?

I used to collect Monopoly sets, had them from loads of different countries. When we moved house a year and a half ago I found them in a cupboard, thought I couldn't be bothered to Ebay them so put them on Freecycle. I had about 40 telephone calls in an hour and they went to someone who came straight round. Clearly I should have ebayed them!

Tickets for football matches. Brings back such a host of great memories when I open that box. Also tickets for gigs, shows, concerts, theatre etc.

I dont try to, it just happens....

Wires and obsolete electronics. An old USB cable, a length of cat5, my old CD drive thats been replaced as it was "on the blink".....

If its broken (and I cant, or failed to, fix it) I will throw it away. But you never know when you need a spare USB cable or headphone jack!

I used to collect bottle conditioned beers. Still have about eighty on a shelf downstairs, but have recently drunk 12 of the stronger ones. All about 15 years out of date, but strong beers are really nice when they get old.

Memories, I'm not one for owning stuff.

Luggage tags from different airlines, the manufacturers identity plates often found on kitchen units (It's ok - only when I fitted them- not by stealth!), ditto for fencing contractors, wrought iron gates etc, Eiffel Towers, Birds Custard tins + 'Domestic Ephemera' Did Sylvac animal pottery for a while, Clarice Cliff, Builders Merchant's Catalogues, Shell Posters, luckily only took photos of 'seats in odd places', ditto shoes, and now it all seems so passé.

I'm not usually one for collecting things but I have over 100 Bad Taste Bears (collected these for a few years until they started making 5-6 new bears per quarter while they became popular). Also have quite a few weapons, mainly Asian and African.

Had a Fullers Vintage ale gathering dust and decided to knock the top off it last night - yumtus, very nice indeed.

Also got a case of Thomas Hardy's tucked away - should be coming into it's own in another 5 years or so. Had an older year but once I'd tasted that one and it was ready it soon vanished!

I'm trying not to collect anythng at the moment as we're trying to clear some space but we've books and records stacked all over the place!

Ronald Searle was always my fave and I've books, coins, prints and even a couple of original drawings - probably about a 100 of his books in total.

The only thing I collect are wristwatches, I have maybe 70+ with perhaps 10-12 that get worn regularly. I'd like to downsize but I just can't let go.
