Sorry to drag up an old thread, I just thought I'd mention that I survived!
I wasn't expecting a picnic, however it was still a little tougher than I'd expected. However, I'm pleased to say that other than about 20 yards on the first day, I cycled the lot.
I can now also relate to some of the comments given earlier, as beforehand names like Garrigill and Crawleyside Bank didn't mean much. Deary me... they do now
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to everyone who offered advice.

Ha ha, but since my legs have recovered, I have been driving through the Pennines today for work, and I've found myself looking at the hills thinking "if I had my bike, I could get up that!", so you never know!
