What do you think of this for the money ?? (2015 Giant Defy 4 Road Bike)

This is on behalf of a friend who is looking for his first new/proper road bike.
For the money it looks good but I am unfamiliar with the components e.g. I've never heard of Claris gearing.
I have a Giant Defy 1 carbon and enjoy it but this is obviously a different animal altogether.

Think Claris gears are one down from Sora.

a mate has something similar - its a good bike at that price. your mate needs to try it though as its no good at any price if its not comfortable.

has he tried it or other models for size etc?

Claris is the entry level shimano road hroupset
Has he ridden some road bikes? Mail order might not be the best route for first bike unless he's happy with the model and components

He has a road bike.............a 2nd hand Trek that cost him £100:00.
I have explained that to him and would take him to see it or similar model.......sit on it etc. before committing to it.
